Louisiana woman charged after dead infant found in storage facility

LAFAYETTE, La. - A 57-year-old southwest Louisiana woman is charged with second-degree murder after police found a dead infant in a storage facility, reports CBS affiliate WAFB, and authorities believe the case dates back fourteen years.

A witness called police Thursday morning and reported that he thought he had found a dead infant while going through some boxes in a storage unit. The man had recently bought the unit in an auction at a Bridge Storage in Lafayette.

Detectives named 57-year-old Rebecca Landry as a suspect, and during her interview police say she told them the infant died in 2001.

Landry was arrested and charged with second degree murder.

The investigation into the infant's death is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at (337) 232-8477.
