Lou Reed's estate worth over $20 million

Lou Reed's estate is worth over $20 million, and it's bequeathed to his wife -- musician Laurie Anderson -- and his sister.

Reed's executors value musical rights and various other assets in his estate at $20.3 million in court papers filed Monday in Manhattan.

The sum doesn't include the East Hampton, N.Y., home Reed bought for about $1.5 million in 2009 or his Manhattan apartment in a building where apartments sell for millions.

Reed's lawyer and one of his executors didn't immediately return calls Tuesday. The filing is part of the legal follow-up to Reed's will, filed in November.

The Velvet Underground frontman and "Walk on the Wild Side" singer died Oct. 27 of complications from a liver transplant. He was 71 and had no children.
