Los Angeles photographer narrowly misses being hit during wild chase

Dramatic L.A. car chase ends with driver jumping sidewalk, narrowly missing man

LOS ANGELES -- A wild chase ended in a violent crash that nearly took out a freelance news photographer, CBS Los Angeles reports. The chase of a suspected stolen SUV started just before 11 p.m. Tuesday in Beverly Hills and ended minutes later in a Los Angeles neighborhood.

The SUV struck another vehicle stopped at a red light and ricocheted into the crosswalk, where Loudlabs News photographer Victor Park had been standing. Park ran out of the way and just narrowly missed being taken out by the SUV as it spun onto the sidewalk.

"I immediately ran for my life," Park said. "I'm not hurt. I feel very lucky, but it was a scary experience. I was shaking for a cool 15 minutes or so."

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to a hospital for minor injuries but is expected to be OK.

The SUV driver was arrested.
