Life in prison for 2 Fla. men in hammer attacks

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Two men were each sentenced to three life terms in prison Thursday for using a hammer to beat a Florida woman to death and her daughter into semi-consciousness, reports the Orlando Sentinel.

Tyler McClain and Bradley Suntich, both 27, took a plea deal that eliminated the possibility of a death sentence, according to the Volusia County State Attorney’s Office.

On June 9, 2011, the defendants severely beat Angela Hill, now 27, and killed her mother, 53-year-old Laura Hill, at the victims' Port Orange home. Angela Hill had previously dated McClain.

The two men were arrested after a high-speed chase with police in Louisiana, where they had fled using Laura Hill’s sport utility vehicle.

McClain and Suntich were charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, robbery with a deadly weapon and grand-theft auto.
