Leah Remini to star in TLC reality series

TLC has ordered a reality series starring "The King of Queens" star Leah Remini and her family.

The network announced Wednesday that it had picked up 12-episodes of a half-hour docu-series focusing on the Brooklyn-born Remini's life in Los Angeles.

The untitled series, from "Duck Dynasty" producers Gurney Productions, will also follow her husband of 10 years, Angelo, who helps run their family diner, the couple's 9-year-old daughter, Sofia, Remini's opinionated mother and eccentric stepfather and her sister and brother-in-law. It will also feature her "team," including her housekeeper, Sophia's British nanny and Remini's personal assistant, who is an aspiring actor.

"Leah is a no-nonsense, hard-working, relatable mom, wife, daughter, and sister. Her sharp humor and unfiltered family are a perfect match for the network," said Nancy Daniels, general manager of TLC. "This series continues our focus on creating compelling series about remarkable families, using heart and humor to anchor it to the TLC brand."

Production on the show begins Wednesday, and it is expected to premiere this summer.

Remini is former co-host of CBS' "The Talk" and "Dancing with the Stars" competitor and recently appeared on TV Land's "The Exes." News of the new reality series comes following her departure from the Church of Scientology last summer and interviews in which she explained her reasons for leaving the religion.
