Lady Gaga headed to "American Horror Story"

Fresh off her much-talked-about Oscars appearance, Lady Gaga revealed she has a new gig. And it's not purely of the musical variety.

The 28-year-old pop singer is joining "American Horror Story." She announced the news Wednesday on Twitter:

Not much else is known about her role, or about the theme for the next installment of "American Horror Story," for that matter. Though Gaga did give a hint with her tweet about "American Horror Story: Hotel."

Ryan Murphy, the man behind "AHS," is apparently a big Gaga fan; he previously created a "Glee" episode around her music.

A few music stars have appeared on the FX series in the past, including Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and Stevie Nicks.

Gaga, meanwhile, has loosely dabbled in acting. Aside from her dramatic music videos, she's had small roles in "Men in Black 3," "Machete Kills" and "Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For."

On Sunday, the "Bad Romance" singer paid tribute to the 50th anniversary of "The Sound of Music" with a medley of songs from the musical. Producers say she worked on her vocals for six months to get ready for the tribute, which saw a pop-up appearance by "The Sound of Music" star Julie Andrews.
