Kristin Cavallari's brother found dead

Brother of reality TV personality found dead

Michael Cavallari, brother of reality star Kristin Cavallari and brother-in-law of Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, was found dead on Thursday, three days after he was reported missing. He was 30.

Authorities found Michael's body in Utah after his 2014 Honda Civic was found abandoned on Nov. 27 on I-70.

"We want to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers during this very difficult time," Kristin told CBS News. "We have just been informed by the authorities my brother's body has been found. This is a very painful time and we are still processing it all. We kindly ask everyone please respect our privacy during our time of grieving."

When authorities found Michael's car, they searched the area and could not find him. There was no sign of foul play or blood near his car.

On Tuesday, a team of 30 officers, along with search dogs and drones, covered the area where he disappeared, which is 200 miles south of Salt Lake City.

Later, police identified Michael in security footage from a local store in Monticello, Utah, showing that he had been driving the same car around the time it was found.

Michael had recently gotten into trouble with the law. He was arrested in Orange County, California, on allegations that he acted threateningly toward a woman and had a gun four days before he went missing on Nov. 27. He was released from jail on Nov. 25.

Kristin wrote on Instagram that she was heartbroken.

"My heart is in a million pieces," wrote the TV personality. "Mikey, I could always count on you to make me laugh. You had such a good heart and will be forever missed. I'm at a loss for words but I know u are in a better place and finally at peace. I love u so much RIP."
