Kindergarten teacher came to class drunk, say Denver cops

DENVER, Colo. - Police took a kindergarten teacher into custody after she arrived for class allegedly intoxicated at Escalante-Biggs Academy in Denver, reports CBS Denver.

Police took Teresa Berman into custody shortly after the start of the school day Thursday on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police confirmed that Berman appeared visibly intoxicated and a DUI officer was called to conduct a sobriety check. Police said Berman failed and was arrested.

Escalante-Biggs Academy is a Denver public school for preschool and kindergarten students.

The school released a statement following Berman's arrest saying that the safety and well-being of the students at the school is their top priority and the issue was immediately identified and reported.
