Kelly Ripa a no-show after Michael Strahan announces he's leaving

"Live! with Kelly and Michael" co-host Kelly Ripa apparently took a personal day following Tuesday's news that Michael Strahan would be leaving the show to join "Good Morning America."

Strahan appeared on Wednesday's show with former "Saturday Night Live" cast-member Ana Gasteyer standing in for Ripa. "Good morning, everybody. Kelly is off today," Strahan said without elaborating further.

Sources tell TMZ that Ripa made her decision to sit out today's broadcast shortly after being informed of Strahan's job change -- which she reportedly wasn't told about until just before it was announced to the public.

Ripa reportedly "feels disrespected and humiliated that she wasn't given the courtesy of a heads-up." It is unclear when she will return to the show.

While Strahan didn't go into detail about Ripa's absence, he did address his impending departure -- and reactions to it. "Yes, I am leaving this show," he said. "Which is going to happen in September. And it's the same channel"

Addressing some of the more fevered reactions to the news of his upcoming move. "I was reading some stuff and it was like I died," he said. "I'm always available to guest co-host because I consider myself to be a part of this family forever. We've still got months to go."
