Kelley Blue Book's 2015 Best Buy Award winners

If you're looking to buy a new car, Kelley Blue Book can be a resource.

This year, the pickup truck Ford F-150 took the top prize as the overall winner in the new Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards.

"The F-150 is revolutionary. It has an aluminum body, that is all new, incredible - saves it 700 pounds. What that does is it enables a lot of other things. Different power trains. Different engines that get better fuel economy," KellyBlueBook.com's executive editorial director and executive market analyst Jack Nerad said on "CBS This Morning." "This is a truck not just for this year or next year, but for the future as well. So it really is a major innovation."

Its turbocharged Ecoboost engine and competitive cost was also a factor helping the truck land the top honor.

Over 300 new models available for 2015 were evaluated over the course of a year, with testing and analysis of vehicle-related data. The publication took into account 5-year cost-to-own data factors including depreciation and maintenance to consumer ratings and reviews. Forty-nine finalists were announced in 12 major vehicle categories before the ultimate winners were announced first on "CBS This Morning."
