Katie Holmes takes role on "Ray Donovan"

Katie Holmes is making a return to TV with a role on "Ray Donovan."

The actress has booked a season-long arc on the Showtime drama, playing a "shrewd and chic businesswoman daughter of a billionaire producer" (portrayed by fellow cast addition Ian McShane) who enlists the services of Liev Schreiber's fixer character, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The casting news also means there will be a "Dawson's Creek" reunion of sorts over at Showtime, since Joshua Jackson is also starring on the network's Golden Globe-winning drama "The Affair."

Holmes was most recently on the small screen in the TV miniseries "The Kennedys" and is set to reprise her role as Jackie Kennedy in Reelz's follow-up, "After Camelot." Her recent films have included "The Giver" and the upcoming "Woman in Gold," with Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds.

"Ray Donovan" is Showtime's second-highest rated drama after "Homeland." It's currently in production on its 12-episode third season, which is expected to premiere this summer.
