Kan. police ID dead body in freezer as Ariz. trucker

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – A body found stuffed inside a freezer has been identified as an Arizona truck driver missing for over four months, CBS affiliate KCTV reports.

Police found the frozen body of 53-year-old Lawrence P. Muirhead in a freezer on Sunday, inside a detached garage behind a home in Kansas City.

On Thursday, police said the death of the Tucson, Ariz. man is considered a homicide. He had been missing since Sept. 28, 2013.

Muirhead was driving his truck from Franklin, Pa. to Nogales, Ariz., but never made it to his destination.

On Oct. 4, Muirhead’s truck was found in a parking lot along Shawnee Mission Parkway in Merriam, Kan.

The property where Muirhead was discovered is rented by a woman and her young daughter. The property owner told KCTV that the renter found the body in the freezer and notified authorities.

The Kansas City Police Department’s Major Case Unit is now investigating the murder. Those with information are urged to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
