"Jupiter Ascending" release date pushed back to 2015

"Jupiter Ascending" won't be coming to theaters until much later than expected.

The sci-fi fantasy epic starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis was originally slated to open this July, but its release date has now been pushed back to Feb. 6, 2015.

The last-minute change was made by Warner Bros. in order to allow more time for the special effects to be completed, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The $150 million project was written and directed by Lana and Andy Wachowski, the sibling filmmakers behind "The Matrix" trilogy and the upcoming Netflix series "Sense8."

In the new big-budget film, Kunis stars as Jupiter Jones -- a seemingly-ordinary young woman who works as a janitor before meeting Caine (Tatum) -- an interplanetary soldier who turns her universe upside down by informing her that she's a galactic princess.
