Julianne Moore dropped from Turkey tourism ad for "poor acting"

Oscar nominee Julianne Moore on "Still Alice" and her non-stop career

Julianne Moore won an Oscar last month for her moving performance as a woman with early-onset Alzheimer's disease in "Still Alice," but her acting chops were apparently not up to snuff according to Turkey's tourism board.

The actress was reportedly cut from an advertisement by the country's tourism and culture ministry because of "poor acting."

According to Turkey's Hurriyet Daily News, Moore was tapped to appear in a promotional campaign called "Home Of," in which she'd be appear on a plane revisiting her childhood travels to the country.

However, the report says, officials weren't pleased with her performance and demanded a reshoot. When Moore declined, the $4 million project -- which filmed in Los Angeles and was expected to air in Turkey in February 2014 -- was ultimately canceled.

Other Turkish advertisers and politicians were reportedly not pleased with the choice to cast Moore, criticizing her "depressive persona." But, Hurriyet added, sources at the tourism ministry downplayed the scrapped project and said "over 30 similar films" with other actors have been made.

Moore recently appeared alongside Jeff Bridges in the fantasy film "Seventh Son," and will be seen next in "Freeheld," also starring Ellen Page.
