Johnny Weir, husband Victor Voronov call it quits
U.S figure skater Johnny Weir is single again.
The 29-year-old Olympic athlete and his husband, Georgetown Law graduate Victor Voronov, have parted ways after almost 2 1/2 years of marriage.
Weir and Voronov wed in a December 2011 civil ceremony in New York. At the time, the couple took on the surname Weir-Voronov, but the skater has already gone back to using just "Weir" on his Twitter account.
Earlier this month, the couple had appeared in a New Jersey courtroom together after Voronov had filed a police report alleging that Weir had bit him during a domestic dispute, according to Radar Online. The case was dismissed by the judge at the request of the couple.
Weir took to Twitter Wednesday to announce the split:
It is with great sadness that I announce that my husband and I are no longer together. My heart hurts, and I wish him well.

No matter what, I am a cheerleader of love and partnership and creation. I am sad yet I am thankful that I was loved and that I could love.

Weir's ex, who is still going by Victor Weir-Voronov on his Twitter account, also had a message for the public regarding the separation. The attorney voiced his surprise at the "abrupt ending" of the union:
Shocked by the abrupt ending of my marriage and am dealing with the trauma including multiple things I am just now becoming aware of...
