Woman arrested at JFK airport in teen boyfriend's 1990 murder

NEW YORK -- A Rhode Island woman was arrested Thursday at a New York City airport and charged in the 1990 murder of her boyfriend, according to the NYPD.

Zunilda Rosario, 48, had just stepped off a flight from the Dominican Republic when she was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport, police tell Crimesider. She’s accused of killing her boyfriend, 19-year-old Juan Deleon, on Feb. 11, 1990 at a Manhattan apartment complex. Officers discovered Deleon dead at the scene of multiple gunshot wounds to his head and chest.

According to the New York Daily News, Rosario fled New York City after the slaying and has been working as a school bus driver in Rhode Island. The NYPD lists her address in Providence. It wasn’t immediately clear how or when Rosario became a suspect in the murder.

Police tell Crimesider a tip led to her arrest at JFK Thursday. She’s been charged with murder, two counts of criminal use of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon.
