Jenna Coleman staying on for more "Doctor Who"

Here's a holiday gift for "Doctor Who" fans -- Jenna Coleman says she's staying on for another season of the hit British series.

There had been some uncertainty about the actress' future on the show, and Whovians had to wait until the Christmas Day special to learn her fate, BBC News reports.

Coleman joined "Doctor Who" in 2012, and has played Clara Oswald alongside two different Doctors -- first Matt Smith, and now Peter Capaldi.

"It's wonderful," she said, according to BBC News. "I get a whole other series of stories with the Doctor and I couldn't walk away with the story being unresolved."

Coleman added, "There is so much more to do. I think they've finally just reached a point where they really understand each other.

Capaldi also shared his excitement about his companion sticking around for another season of adventures in space and time.

"I'm thrilled," he said. "Jenna has just been fantastic and such a pleasure to work with."
