Why Jeb Bush is releasing 250,000 of his emails

WASHINGTON -- Jeb Bush says he's releasing roughly 250,000 emails from his years as Florida's governor.

The possible Republican presidential candidate also says he's working on an electronic book. He told a Florida television station during a Saturday interview that he'll release the emails ahead of the e-book next year.

Bush has hinted that he would make a decision "in short order" about whether to run for president. He would be the early favorite of the Republican establishment, although many conservatives criticize his positions on immigration and education.

Bush tells ABC's Miami affiliate, WPLG-TV, that he's releasing the emails for "transparency" and to "let people make up their mind."

Bush served as Florida's governor from 1999 to 2007. He is the son of one president and the brother of another.
