Florida political blogger charged with attempted murder

WEST PALM BEACH --Javier Manjarres, a South Florida based conservative political blogger was taken into custody after he reportedly punched his sister's boyfriend in the face and fired several rounds into his truck, reportsCBS Miami.

Manjarres, 43, was arrested Saturday at his home in Pompano Beach, the day after he allegedly got into a scuffle with 36-year old Jason Holowinski, reports the station.

Holowinski and Marjarres' sister had gotten into a fight and he left her at the Palmetto Park Shopping Center in Boca Raton, according to the Sun-Sentinel. When Holowinski returned to the shopping center to pick her up, after she called him, Manjarres was allegedly waiting for Holowinski.

According to the station, Manjarres reportedly hit Holowinski in the face a couple of times, breaking his nose. When Manjarres reached into his waistband for something, Holowinski threw his truck in reverse in effort to get away and accidentally backed into Manjarres' car.

When he put it in forward and tried to drive away, Holowinski said he heard gunshots. When he got to his brother's house he found bullet holes in his truck, reports the station.

Manjarres was charged with attempted murder.
