Jason Aldean and former "Idol" star engaged

Country star Jason Aldean and former "American Idol" contestant Brittany Kerr are engaged.

The news was confirmed Thursday by a publicist for Aldean.

Aldean, 37, filed for divorce from his wife, Jessica, last year. In 2012, pictures surfaced of the singer and Kerr appearing to kiss in a Los Angeles bar.

Aldean and his ex-wife have two daughters, Keeley and Kendyl.

On Wednesday, Kerr Instagrammed a photo hinting at the engagement, with the caption, "My man did it again. Today was amazing #sandiegozoo #myeverything."

Aldean is one of country's top-selling male acts, consistently selling out stadiums and arenas. His new album, "Old Boots, New Dirt," will be released Oct. 7.
