James Van Der Beek to star as series regular in CBS' "CSI: Cyber"
James Van Der Beek is joining the FBI -- on TV that is.
The former "Dawson's Creek" actor will star as a series regular on "CSI: Cyber," the latest spinoff in the popular crime series franchise.
"We are excited to welcome an actor of James Ver Der Beek's caliber to 'CSI: Cyber.' Over his career, he has demonstrated a tremendous range of talent that makes him a perfect addition to our gifted cast," the show's executive producers said in a statement.
The new series will follow a group of special agents led by Avery Ryan (Patricia Arquette) as they track down cyber criminals around the world.
Van Der Beek will play Agent Elijah Mundo, recruited by Ryan based on his experiences in Afghan war zones.
The 37-year-old actor is best known for his stint on the teen soap "Dawson's Creek," in which he starred as main character Dawson Leary from 1998-2003. Van Der Beek memorably portrayed a highly fictionalized version of himself in the ABC series "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23," which aired from 2012-2013.
"CSI: Cyber" will debut during the 2014-2015 TV season on CBS.
