James Corden receives royal medal at "not too shabby" Buckingham Palace

James Corden honored by Buckingham Palace

It's only three months since James Corden hit the big time on CBS' "The Late Late Show" and now England is trying to lure him back with royal honors and stuff.

The comedian went home to "Blighty," slang for Britain, to receive an OBE (Order of the British Empire) medal from the Princess Royal for service to drama at Buckingham Palace on Thursday. Despite Monday's news that the Palace is in need of more than $200 million in repairs, Corden reported that it "doesn't look too shabby."

Looking especially well-groomed himself at the side of his chic wife, TV producer Julia Carey, Corden was humble and grateful for the royal accolades.

"I fell very undeserved but grateful nonetheless," Corden said. Before the ceremony he tweeted that this Thursday won't be like most Thursdays.

"It's wonderful" and "overwhelming to come back from Los Angeles and be stood in Buckingham Palace receiving such a thing," he told the Irish Examiner.

Yet it remains unclear if Corden was able to pick up any royalty to ride with him for his popular segment "Carpool Karaoke."

"It's got to be Harry hasn't it?" Corden said.
