Jada Pinkett Smith to star in TV's "Gotham" series

Jada Pinkett Smith has signed on as a series regular in the upcoming Fox TV drama "Gotham."

In the Batman prequel, the 42-year-old actress will portray Fish Mooney, a sadistic gangster boss and nightclub owner who can read people like an open book. Both imposing and hotheaded, she's not one to be crossed, according to the character description.

Based upon characters published by DC Comics, "Gotham" dives into the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon (portrayed by Ben McKenzie of "The O.C." fame) and the villains that made Gotham famous.

Other stars include Donal Logue as Detective Harvey Bullock, Zabryna Guevara as Captain Essen, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth and Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot.
