Bristol Palin weighs in on Ted Cruz

Sarah Palin's daughter on Monday weighed in on rumors that her mother is close to endorsing Donald Trump for president.

In a blog post titled "Is THIS Why People Don't Like Cruz?" Bristol Palin writes that she hopes her mom endorses Trump now that aides to Sen. Ted Cruz's, R-Texas, have criticizing her mom.

"After hearing what Cruz is now saying about my mom, in a negative knee-jerk reaction, makes me hope my mom does endorse Trump," the 25-year-old Palin wrote.

"Cruz's flip-flop, turning against my mom who's done nothing but support and help him when others sure didn't, shows he's a typical politician. How rude to that he's setting up a false narrative about her!" she added.

The infraction in question: Cruz campaign spokesman Rick Tyler told CNN's "New Day" that if Palin endorses Trump, it would be a "blow" to her reputation because, he said, Trump has held progressive views throughout his life.

Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska and the GOP's 2008 vice presidential candidate, tweeted a link to her daughter's blog.

Trump is holding a rally in Ames, Iowa on Tuesday evening and rumors are swirling that Palin could show up to endorse the GOP presidential contender.

Earlier Tuesday, the family of actor John Wayne endorsed the businessman at the John Wayne Birthplace & Museum.

Last July, Trump said on the talk show "The Palin Update" that he would love to have her join his administration if he's elected president.

"I'd love that because she really is somebody that knows what's happening and she's a special person," he said. "She's really a special person and I think people know that."

In September, Palin told CNN's Jake Tapper than she would be happy to join a Trump administration and suggested she would be interested in leading the Department of Energy.

"Because energy is my baby -- oil and gas and minerals, those things that God has dumped on this part of the Earth for mankind's use, instead of relying on unfriendly foreign nations for us to import their resources," she said.

Even if Trump wins a Palin endorsement, it's not clear it will help him lock down a win in Iowa. A Bloomberg Politics/Des Moines Register survey released a month before the 2014 midterm elections found 56 percent said Palin's support for Joni Ernst's, R-Iowa, Senate bid said it would do more to hurt her than help her.

Of course, Ernst ended up winning the election.
