Is Elizabeth Warren considering running for president?

It may be that no American news outlet (including this one) can interview Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, without asking her whether she is running for president in 2016. The latest was People Magazine, for an article running in this week's issue.

Is she "on board" with a presidential run? "I don't think so" Warren told People. "If there's any lesson I've learned in the last five years, it's don't be so sure about what lies ahead. There are amazing doors that could open."

It's hard to tell whether she's nudging the door open to a presidential bid here. Maybe not, but this was still a gentler "no" than her definitive denials earlier this year.

"I'm not running for president," Warren declared to ABC in April. And again the next day to CBS This Morning she stated, "I'm not running for president."

Lately, Warren has been crisscrossing the country to boost Democratic Senate candidates in both liberal and conservative states, showing up with Gary Peters in Michigan, and Alison Lundergan Grimes in Kentucky, among others. She'll campaign with New Hampshire Sen. Jeanne Shaheen this weekend.

Although President Obama has not been a welcome campaign companion for Senate Democrats in tight races this season, Warren has been sought after by just about everyone, ostensibly because she attracts the most ardent Democrats in the party, the ones most likely to bother voting in this midterm election. By next week, she will have hit Iowa and New Hampshire, presidential primary territory, where she'll have a chance to consider making that "I don't think so" into a "maybe."
