iPad Pro goes on sale this week

The biggest news in iPad since Apple CEO Tim Cook announced "the biggest news in iPad since the iPad," is that this week you can finally buy the biggest iPad ever.

Apple confirmed Monday that the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, unveiled in September, will be available to order on Apple.com Wednesday and in stores beginning later this week.

The larger, more powerful iPad is intended to rival or even replace a laptop. It runs the new iOS 9 mobile operating system that gives it new multitasking capabilities, and an optional full-sized keyboard and "Apple Pencil" stylus are targeted toward business users and designers.

The iPad Pro comes in metallic silver, gold and space gray. The 32-GB version with Wi-Fi costs $799 and the 128-GB model with Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity costs $1,079. The Smart Keyboard costs an additional $169 and Apple Pencil is $99.
