Injured Dave Grohl performs from a throne in concert

Dave Grohl: I'd never win "American Idol"

If you can't run around and rock out onstage, then what better way to perform than from a throne?

That's what Dave Grohl did Saturday night when he and the Foo Fighters played their 20th anniversary Fourth of July concert at the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington, D.C.

The frontman was sidelined last month with a broken leg because of a June 12 stage jump in Sweden that resulted in him canceling the remainder of the Foos' European tour.

But on Saturday, Grohl -- purple leg cast and all -- showed up onstage seated on a thrown made of guitars and lights. He sat perched with his leg elevated throughout the show as he pounded out song after song.

"A funny thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago," Grohl, 46, told the crowd Saturday night before explaining the slip while a YouTube clip of the stage tumble played on a big video screen behind him.

July 4 marked two decades since release of the Foo Fighters' self-titled debut album.
