Ind. teen killed in "freak accident" with stump grinder
HARTFORD CITY, Ind. - Authorities say a central Indiana teenager was killed when he apparently stumbled and fell into a hydraulic stump grinder.
The Blackford County Tod Waters said 18-year-old Cody Bronnenberg was killed Saturday on a rural property near Hartford City, 80 miles northwest of Indianapolis. Investigators are looking into whether some of his clothing may have come in contact with the spinning grinder.
Waters told CBS affiliate WTTV in Indianapolis that the teen was working with his uncle, who runs a tree service company. The coroner described the mishap as a "freak accident."
The local sheriff said emergency crews found the teen tangled in the stump grinder and that he was dead when they arrived.
