Ill. basketball player pleads not guilty to domestic battery

URBANA, Ill. -- Illinois basketball player Kendrick Nunn's attorney says the junior has pleaded not guilty to two counts of domestic battery.

Nunn's attorney, Evan Bruno, said Friday that his client has a pretrial hearing set for April 20. Nunn is free on bond.

Nunn is accused of striking a woman Wednesday at an apartment near campus. Police say the woman suffered a minor injury.

Nunn is the fourth Illinois player arrested since August. The 20-year-old has been suspended from the team.

Bruno's family's law firm also represents another of those four, Nunn roommate Jaylon Tate. Tate has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor domestic abuse after his arrest Saturday.

Bruno urged people not to draw comparisons between the unrelated cases.

Prosecutors did not immediately return a call from The Associated Press.
