Idina Menzel to perform at the Oscars

Idina Menzel is going to take to the stage at next month's Oscars.

Producers announced Tuesday that the Tony Award-winning singer/actress will perform "Let It Go," which is nominated for best original song.

The song comes from "Frozen," which is also nominated for best animated film. The film has become a smash hit for Disney, earning more than $900 million at the worldwide box office and selling more than 1 million copies of its soundtrack. There are also plans to adapt it into a Broadway musical

Menzel won a Tony for playing Elphaba in "Wicked" and has also appeared in both the Broadway and film versions of "Rent." Her other acting credits include "Glee," "Enchanted" and lending her voice to the role of Elsa in "Frozen."

She joins previously announced performer Pharrell Williams, who will perform his Oscar-nominated song "Happy," from "Despicable Me 2."

The other best original song contenders are U2's "Ordinary Love," from "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom," and "The Moon Song" from "Her," performed by Karen O.

The 86th Academy Awards, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres will air live on March 2 on ABC.
