Idina Menzel defends rocky NYE performance

The Internet has spoken, and apparently, Idina Menzel botched "Let It Go" almost as badly as Jon Travolta botched Idina Menzel's name.

At her 2015 "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest" performance Wednesday night, the singer hit a sour note heard around the world. Listen for yourself below -- the note comes around the 3:30 mark of the "Frozen" singer's biggest song:

But Menzel responded herself Thursday, tweeting a letter defending the performance with the caption, "This is something I said in an interview a few months ago":

"There are about 3 million notes in a two-and-a-half-hour musical; being a perfectionist, it took me a long time to realize that if I'm hitting 75 percent of them, I'm succeeding," she said.

It was a pitchy performance, though performing in the freezing cold at 12 a.m. isn't easy, one could speculate. Regardless, the world will spin on, and "Let It Go" will continue to be heard from car stereos and middle school sleepovers for years to come.

What did you think: Was Menzel's performance unforgivable, or should we just...here it comes..."Let It Go"?
