Ice bucket challenge goes presidential

President Obama may have dodged the ALS ice bucket challenge - the social media storm of people dumping a bucket of ice over their heads and challenging their friends to do the same, or donate money to researching the disease - one former occupant of the Oval Office has stepped up to the plate.

Former President George W. Bush was challenged by several people, including his daughter, Jenna Hager Bush, New York Jets owner Woody Johnson, San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, and professional golfer Rory McIlroy.

"To all of you who have challenged me I do not think its presidential for me to be splashed with ice water so I'm simply going to write you a check," Bush said in a video posted to his Facebook page.

As he began writing the check, his wife, Laura Bush, appeared and dumped a bucket of cold water over his head, causing Bush to shout, "Oh!"

"That check is for me. I don't want to ruin my hairstyle," she then said, patting her coiffed 'do.

Celebrities embrace the ALS ice bucket challenge

Bush announced that he is extending the challenge to former President Bill Clinton.

"Yesterday was Bill's birthday and my gift to Bill is a bucket of cold water," he said.
