"I Am Cait" ratings are in, see how many people joined her journey

The reality reveal for Caitlyn Jenner finally happened on Sunday in the premiere of her E! docu/reality series, "I Am Cait." And while the anticipation was high, the ratings were not quite as grand as one would have thought given the huge build-up to the show.

The Nielsen ratings for the first episode of "I Am Cait" brought an average audience of 2.73 million viewers, according to The Hollywood Reporter. And while that is slightly more eyes than a mid-season viewing of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," it was no where near the 17 million that her tell-all interview with Diane Sawyer brought in. Given that was a network show on ABC as opposed to the cable showing on E!. However, the special "Keeping Up With the Kardashians: About Bruce," set a three-year high for the series with 4.2 million viewers, reports THR. So we know she's capable of drawing a crowd on cable.

Among Sunday night's 2.73 million viewers, more than half were adults 18-49, says THR. Next week's episode will be the real tell-all though, to see if viewers stay tuned for Caitlyn's journey. The series has a shorter run than a typical "Kardashians" season, with only seven episodes set to air this summer.

But if Cait keeps on giving us her story in such a raw and beautiful manner as she did on Sunday, we can only hope that her fans stick with her journey on E!
