Hulu unveils "Seinfeld" streaming and Jerry's apartment exhibit

Hulu is now the master of the "Seinfeld" domain. Not only has streaming service acquired all nine seasons of the series available for download starting today, but it has also taken control of the actual Jerry Seinfeld apartment -- complete with blue couch and cereal boxes -- in a free pop-up exhibit in downtown New York.

"Seinfeld: The Apartment" recreates Jerry's Upper West Side digs where Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer would hang and complain, for a five-day-only walk-through exhibit at Milk Studios in the Meatpacking District, open June 24-28.

"It's like Disneyland for 'Seinfeld' fans," said Larry Thomas, who played the Soup Nazi, to the New York Daily News.

The exhibit is part of Hulu's campaign for the launch of the 180-episode series on its streaming subscription service. Although some shows are free on Hulu, the Larry David-created "Seinfeld" will require the $8-a-month subscription fee to watch.

"We think it's a one-of-a-kind property," Hulu CEO Mike Hopkins told CNNMoney. "There aren't too many shows that have a puffy shirt in the Smithsonian, for example."
