Hoverboard drive-by shooting probed by Dallas cops

Hoverboards, already in focus due to concerns they can catch fire, are attracting attention for another reason in Dallas.

Authorities there are investigating a hoverboard drive-by shooting, reports CBS DFW.

Hoverboards are two-wheeled, self-balancing scooters.

An armed man on a hoverboard shot a driver early Thursday morning and rolled away, police said.

The victim was driving when he saw the suspect riding a hoverboard, police continued. When the driver drove by a second time, he decided to ask the hoverboarder if he needed a ride, says Dallas police spokesperson Tramese Andrews.

"The person then asked the victim why he was following him and at that time, he shot the victim. The suspect then fled the location on foot, while the victim was transported to a local hospital by Dallas Fire Rescue with non-life-threating injuries."

There was no word on the condition of the victim.

Andrews said she isn't sure if the man was on the hoverboard when he shot the driver.
