6 pulled from rubble after scaffolding collapse in Houston

HOUSTON -- Emergency personnel have rescued six workers from piles of rubble and twisted metal after scaffolding collapsed at a seven-story building under construction in downtown Houston.

A Houston Fire Department statement says all six workers were taken to hospitals Friday morning. The department says the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. No other details were provided on the conditions of the injured.

Firefighters continued to search for more people possibly trapped under the rubble.

One witness told CBS affiliate KHOU that the collapse sounded like an avalanche.

"We ran over as soon as we heard it, it sounded like a bunch of boulders," the witness told KHOU.

The accident happened at a residential complex across the street from Minute Maid Park, home of baseball's Houston Astros. Debris was scattered along most of a city block.
