Houston-area man gets 10 years in prison for child porn

HOUSTON - A suburban Houston man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for possessing more than 50,000 images and 1,300 videos of child pornography.

The sentence Friday following the conviction of 53-year-old Glenn Casey Portwood is the maximum prison term U.S. District Judge Gray Miller could impose.

Portwood was also ordered to pay $5,000 to a child pornography victim, will be on probation once he completes his prison sentence and must register as a sex offender.

Prosecutors say he was discovered sharing pornography through online software. Federal agents obtained a search warrant and seized a backpack of videos from the trunk of his car and two computers and external hard drives. Some of the children on the images were only 1 to 3 years old.
