Hillary Clinton raises $27M in May

Hillary Clinton raised more than $27 million in primary funds in May, her presidential campaign announced Wednesday.

"Hillary Clinton remains focused on ensuring that she and Democrats up and down the ballot are able to mobilize millions of voters and win in November," campaign manager Robby Mook said in a statement.

In April, the campaign raised $26.4 million in primary funds.

Clinton also raised $13.5 million for the Democratic National Committee and state parties, the campaign said, which is part of their joint fundraising agreement that the campaign. The Democratic contender started June with more than $42 million cash on hand.

The average donation to Clinton's campaign in May was $44.

The campaign said the campaign's funds are being used to fund and staff organizing programs across the country that will register voters, organize Democrats to turn out and recruit volunteers.
