Note to crooks: "Hey dirtbags...We’re watching you"

CONCORD, Calif. - Residents fed up with crime in the East Bay city of Concord, Calif. have a few choice words for the crooks: "Hey dirtbags...we're watching you."

CBS San Francisco reports those pointed words - and more - have been popping up on signs on utility poles in the bedroom community about 30 miles from San Francisco, where residents had already formed a neighborhood watch, and installed security cameras.

Now come the signs, stapled to telephone poles, delivering the message: "Hey dirtbags casing our neighborhood: We're watching you."

Residents believe the crime problem is originating at nearby Markum Park.

As for the author of the signs, Pastor Chuck McKinney, whose church has also been victimized, has a theory.

"It's probably somebody who's a little older than the "dirtbags" they're worried about...it's a phrase that has gone out of favor," said McKinney.
