Hank Williams, Jr. concert-goer dies after shove from teen

PONTIAC, Mich. - A 55-year-old Westland, Mich. man has died from injuries authorities say he sustained in a fight Sunday night at a Hank Williams, Jr. concert, reports CBS Detroit.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said Robert Kobe was pronounced dead Tuesday afternoon at a hospital in Pontiac, Mich.

Kobe had gone to the concert at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Independence Township with a group of friends. A 15-year-old boy from Wayne who was part of the group allegedly shoved Kobe, who then hit his head on concrete in the concourse area of the venue, reports the station.

Kobe's son, Corey, told CBS Detroit that his dad loved to horse around and he's sure the incident started off as good-natured fun.

"He was a big goof ball. He wasn't mean, everybody loved him, but he would tease with you and kid around. Given the circumstances of what I've come to learn, there's no reason to believe that there was any kind of foul play involved. Nobody had any intention. It was an accident," he said. "I don't hold any ill will toward the 15-year-old involved. I understand it. At any point in my life, goofing around, I could have been that kid, my father could have been that kid."

The teenager spent Sunday night in jail and was released Monday. The Sheriff's Office reportedly said an investigation will continue, pending the outcome of an autopsy.
