Grassley sets time frame for Loretta Lynch's confirmation hearing

Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, has set the time frame for Attorney General-designate Loretta Lynch's confirmation hearing.

His goal is to hold a hearing for Ms. Lynch either the last week of January or the beginning of February. Grassley has spoken with the White House Counsel about this, and the White House was amenable to this timetable. He is currently working with the Justice Department to gather and review all of the relevant documents, and once that process is complete, he'll consider specific dates.

Lynch has been confirmed by the Senate twice before: once, in 2000, as the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York at the end of then-President Clinton's second term, and again in 2010 for the same job under Mr. Obama.
