GOP Super PAC releases ad attacking Jon Ossoff Georgia special election

Can Ossoff win over Republican voters in Georgia runoff?

A super PAC supporting House Republican leadership released a new ad attacking Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff in the special election to fill the vacancy left by former Rep. Tom Price, R-Georgia, who is now the Health and Human Services Secretary.

The ad, called "Only," ties Ossoff to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, attacking Democrats for "voting for higher taxes, more spending and job-crushing regulations."

It's "bigger government we can't afford," the ad says.

The ad also pitches the Republican candidate, Karen Handel, as a congresswoman who "will fight hard for working families."
Handel, the ad says, will fight "waste" and support a balanced budget amendment.

In the April primary, Ossoff harnessed opposition to President Trump to lead an 18-candidate field in the typically conservative district, but he fell short of the majority needed to win outright.

Handel finished second as the top Republican vote-getter. She was Georgia's first Republican secretary of state and has also run unsuccessfully to be Georgia's U.S. senator and also to be its governor. She's pitching herself as a common-sense conservative.

The ad is part of the Congressional Leadership Fund's (CLF) $7 million independent expenditure campaign in Georgia's sixth district special election race. CLF is spending on TV, radio and digital advertising, in addition to a field and mail operation targeting 300,000 doors by Election Day.

The ad will run online and air on broadcast and cable in the Atlanta media market beginning Friday, June 9.
