Global Citizen Festival to feature Beyonce, Coldplay

Global Citizen Festival gets ready for 4th year

This year's Global Citizen Festival headliners will provide a mix of R&B, pop and rock and roll.

Beyonce, Pearl Jam and Coldplay have signed on to perform at the 2015 concert in New York's Central Park on Sept. 26, organizers revealed Thursday. They join previously announced performer Ed Sheeran for the fourth annual event, which will air on MSNBC and stream on iHeartRadio and Tidal.

The festival's goal is to raise awareness of the United Nations' mission to fight inequality, protect the environment and end extreme poverty by 2030.

"I am honored to be a part of the Global Citizen Festival," said Beyonce in a statement. "It has always stood for improving the lives of people everywhere, but this year is especially rewarding as we all join focuses and utilize our talents for one goal: to end extreme poverty globally."

Previous performers include Stevie Wonder, Jay Z, Neil Young, Alicia Keys, Foo Fighters and Carrie Underwood.
