Girl, 10, crashes mom's SUV into Denver DMV office

Watch: 10-year-old drives SUV into Colo. DMV building

DENVER — A 10-year-old girl has been cited for reckless driving after her mother's SUV crashed into a Division of Motor Vehicles office in the Denver suburb of Parker.

Police Sgt. Andy Coleman says a woman parked outside the office Monday and left her 12- and 10-year-old daughters in the vehicle. That's when the younger girl apparently started the car and put the vehicle in gear.

Coleman says the SUV rolled slowly through the office's front window until the mother jumped in to stop it from causing more damage. No one was injured.

Anyone 10 or older can be charged with a crime in Colorado, so police gave the girl a ticket for reckless driving.

Coleman says the mother wasn't ticketed because she says she didn't leave the car running.
