Georgia woman charged with murder in infant's hot car death

RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. -- A Georgia woman faces murder and cruelty to children charges in connection with the death of an 8-month-old girl, her infant cousin, who succumbed Sunday to burns suffered while strapped in a car seat, reports CBS affiliate WRDW.

Investigators say Latoya Louise Bell left baby Ja'Karheyonna Houges-Double in a car with the door open while she went inside and fell asleep.

Family members later found the child and rushed her to the hospital.

She suffered severe burns from exposure to the sun and was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office, the station reported.

Investigators say Bell was the baby's cousin and godmother.
