Ga. cop shot during traffic stop; suspects sought

COBB COUNTY, Ga. – A manhunt is underway after a police officer in Cobb County, Ga. was shot during a traffic stop early Tuesday morning, reports CBS Atlanta.

The officer, whose name has not been released, was hospitalized and is said to be recovering. He is listed in stable but good condition, according to the station.

The officer had pulled over a blue Volvo around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday when he was shot.

Investigators reportedly recovered the Volvo a short distance away from the site of the shooting. The Volvo was being trailed by a red car, police say.

Police are searching for three suspects, two males and a female, reports the station. Authorities describe one of the males as white and in his late twenties. He was seen wearing denim shorts over black sweat pants with a red shirt under a black hoodie. He has a crew cut hairstyle. Both of his arms have full sleeve tattoos. The suspect also has a tattoo under one eye which resembles a Nike swoosh, according to police.

The female is described as white with dark blonde hair. She was seen wearing a knit cap with an unknown type of emblem and a gray shirt with a beige jacket. A description of the third suspect being sought has not been made available.

Police believe the three are in a 2011 red Ford Fusion. The tag number is BEX 3690, according to the station.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Cobb County police.
