George H.W. Bush to remain in hospital, spokesman says

George H.W. Bush gets special visitor

There has been no change in former President George H.W. Bush’s condition today so he will remain in the hospital throughout the evening, according to a tweet from his spokesman, Jim McGrath.

McGrath first disclosed on Tuesday that President Bush Sr. had been admitted to Houston Methodist Hospital with a persistent cough that doctors had diagnosed as a now-resolved case of “mild pneumonia.”

This follows a more serious 16-day hospitalization of Bush earlier this year in January for the same reason, which had required the former president to be intubated and hooked up to a ventilator.

Bush will remain at Houston Methodist while he regains his strength so that doctors can further observe him, McGrath said in another tweet. This is the 41st president’s third day in hospital.
