Gas station "wall of shame" aims to catch thief...actually, many
ROSEVILLE, Calif. -- A gas station in Northern California is playing the "shame game" in an attempt to take a bite out of crime.
According to CBS Sacramento, one wall of the gas station in Roseville (re sacramento) is plastered with pictures of people workers say have stolen from the business, and who were captured -- at least by the store's 16 surveillance cameras.
If you steal a pack of gum, the station says, your picture is going up on the wall and you will be made fun of.
Clerk Chris Egly calls it his wall of shame.
"Pretty much public shame," he said. "Most of these people have no shame they don't care."
Picture after picture of candy lovers ...
"He stole a box of Kit-Kats I'm going, 'He should be stealing Slim Fast not Kit-Kats,'" he said.
... or alleged donut swipers.
"So you were dropping by the Hostess rack and they just jumped in your purse?"
Some of the pictures date back to 2008, but only a single suspect has been caught.
"They may not get arrested now, but eventually they do come into our fold in the justice system because they don't just stop with one," Roseville Police officer Nicholas Gaines told CBS Sacramento.
