Garth Brooks makes a few big announcements

Garth Brooks made a few big announcements during a press conference Thursday in Nashville, Tenn.

First up -- fans can expect a world tour soon. Details haven't been unveiled yet, but that information will unfold soon.

New music is in the works, too, as Brooks inked a deal with Sony Music. A single could surface in sometime in the next two months, he said.

"The new record, I think, is what we would traditionally think of as a double album, just because there's a lot to say," Brooks said. He said the bulk of the material comes from outside songwriters, noting, "You just make them yours."

The country superstar also revealed that he would be making his music available digitally for the first time ever.

The 52-year-old singer was one of the last hold-outs to join the digital space. But don't expect to hear "Friends in Low Places" on iTunes; Brooks will release his songs digitally on his own website.

Brooks revealed last December that he plans to hit the road this year on his first extensive concert tour since 2000. Perhaps there will be another press conference.
