"Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams coming to "Doctor Who"

A "Game of Thrones" star is trading one fantasy TV universe for another.

Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark on the hit HBO series, will guest star on the next season of "Doctor Who," the BBC revealed Monday.

"I'm so excited to be working on 'Doctor Who' as it's such a big and important part of British culture," she said in the announcement. "I can't wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming, especially as we'll be shooting not too far from my home town."

"Doctor Who" lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat added, "We're thrilled to have Maisie Williams joining us on 'Doctor Who.' It's not possible to say too much about who or what she's playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell."

The long-running series also released a photo showing Williams posing inside the Doctor's famous TARDIS spaceship. A tweet from the show's official account teases that more info will come soon.

"Doctor Who," which brought on Peter Capaldi last season as the latest actor to play the Doctor, will return with new episodes this fall.

But before then, we'll get to see Williams again as Arya when "Game of Thrones" debuts its fifth season April 12 on HBO.
